About Me

TOPIC OF INTEREST

As a topic of study for the 2016 - 2017 school year, I am interested in the field of International Business. More specifically I would like to learn about international marketing to increase my knowledge and skills in this area.

The world of business has surrounded me for the majority of my life as my father majored in business administration and my mother minored in marketing. As a result, I grew up in an atmosphere of business calls, meetings, and constant networking. As I observed this professional world from the sidelines I knew that I wanted to be a part of it just perhaps not specifically following in the footsteps of my parents. As I entered high school I began to develop and realize many of my current passions. At present, I am enrolled in my fifth year studying the Spanish language, and hope to continue to keep pursuing language studies as I see knowledge of a second language as vital in a global setting. Through this exposure to the Spanish culture I have been intrigued by the idea of learning about many other civilizations, and consequently have established a dream of seeing the world. Furthermore, I have recognized that an important quality to possess in the business world is the ability to communicate. From April to August of 2016 I worked my first job as a carhop at a local Sonic Drive In. As I served nearly 300 customers a shift I was constantly practicing making a good first impression and adapting to the needs of a plethora of customers.  With this experience and the constant emphasis to pursue a career that I am passionate about, I thought what could be more perfect than a job that combined a business setting, Spanish language, and the opportunity to travel the world? International Business was the obvious choice.

Additionally, I am a very hardworking and driven individual, and I pride myself on not settling for anything less than to be completely satisfied with my efforts. Completing and submitting work that is not done to the best of my abilities is a waste of my time and my team's,  so if I am going to perform a task then I am going to do it well. I also have an impressive ability to lead a team in a variety of settings. My leadership includes dividing the workload strategically, placing my colleagues in positions that they would be the most beneficial, and continuously managing everyone’s efforts without being overbearing. This ability to communicate and lead others is a very valuable quality to exhibit in any business setting. I also pride myself in building connections. I aim to build exponentially more bridges than I burn as I like to assume every individual you meet could offer some form of value contributing to your growth either in the present or future. Finally, one of my most important qualities is that of the ability to adapt. Especially considering the fact that I would most likely be exposed to many other languages, cultures, and regions that I am not completely familiar with as an International Businesswoman. With my abilities to lead, communicate, and adapt - combined with my unstoppable drive to succeed, there is nothing that can hinder me from achieving my goals. Based off of my skills and interests I feel International Business, more specifically international marketing, is an area where I could be greatly successful.
